A project is being planned for promoting research, technical development and demonstration (RTD) of low-powered Light-weight position-Fixing (LiteFix) devices using the most effective FKF computations in order to help Persons with Special Needs, including the Disabled and the Elderly as outlined in the various Information Society Technologies (IST) initiatives of European Union (EU). Superb position-finding accuracies and ultra-reliable performance under all circumstances will be achieved by using HYBRID navigation methods in combination with the GPS/Glonass/Galileo Geodetic computing. Reference is made to the respective Expression of Interest (EoI) in EU FP6, the accomplished COST Action 716 and the ongoing TOUGH project in EU FP5.
